4/9/2009 Bella PrincessaI see that I didn't post an update on Bella's vet visit. This past Saturday, we learned that the little chihuahua is only about 4 months old and weighed in at 3.7 lbs. Tiny, indeed.
This week she and the boys ( senior Pug Buddy and now 9 month old 45.7 lb Beau) are becoming great friends. Buddy is her guardian. She gives a short, low growl as he injects his body between her and rambunctious "humongous" Beau. Little Bit does stand her ground though and Beau loves to play with her, nosing her butt to make her turn and growl at him.
She has also taken over Beau's bed. She looks so funny. Tiny little thing sitting on his big ole bed in his big crate and with his big ole bone next to her.
Tonight hubby and I went out to they bay and were only planning on taking Beau, but both Princess and Buddy were dancing around wanting to go. Imagine the back seat of a Focus with three dogs. Bella in her doggie carrier in the middle and Buddy in his doggie car seat tethered and Beau on the other side, also tethered. Poor Beau, his space on the seat has become very small indeed! He loves to stretch out, but those days are gone.
uh, Bella Princessa is officially younger son, Don's, dog and is named Princess. At the moment he is without a job and "homeless", so...... 4/3/2009 another rescue!Believe it or not, we have added another dog to our household! I used to be strictly a cat loving human. Although I grew up with both cats and dogs, I preferred cats and was afraid of dogs (with the exception of our dog)
My mother took in a tiny chihuahua one of my brother's who lives in a country area found. This brother shoo'd the dog away and went inside. The little dog decided this human would take care of her and went up to his door. He asked our mother for a cat carrier to transport her to another brother's and mother said she would take the dog.
I was in town for an overnight visit to my father's, saw the little thing and talked to my husband who said it was up to me to rescue her. Our younger son who also saw her, fell in love with her. I called my mother offering to take her off her hands. She said "no" because her grandson and granddaughter who live in the same town wanted her and they would also be good company for the great granddaughters.
Sunday I get a phone call from mother saying she wanted my younger son to have her. We talked for about 2 1/2 hours. Monday we drove the 4 hours, taking 5 hours, to pick up Bella Princessa.
Now we have three fourteen year old cats; 9 year old rescue Pug, Buddy; 8 month old 45+ pound Black Mouth Cur look-alike bottle-fed sweet Beau, and our little bitty maybe 5 pound Bella chihuahua.
Younger son is looking to enter military service so Bella will, of course, stay with us. |
